Spijkers in de wolken (Nails in The Clouds) is a novel about death, friendship and resentment. Disarmingly and painfully honest, the author manages to capture his generation, a generation of people in their seventies, drifting away from life, searching for meaning, longing to hold on to the glorious past, just for a little while longer. Two friends, only connected by the reconciling woman.
